[November 3, 2007] - To help ensure your email gets read and replied to, there are a few things you need to keep in mind! The "subject" line of your email is what you are relying on to catch the eye of your fave porn star. Whether you are sending a love note to Jill Kelly or a poem to Tera Patrick, it will get over-looked if you are not careful. First of all, never leave the subject blank. Second, avoid using "spam-my" sounding tag lines... things like, "Important Question About Your Work" looks like spam and takes a low rank in priority. Getting plucked out of the hundreds of emails that arrive daily is one part content and one part luck.

Before you start writing your email, be sure you have read through the performers website (the BARE minimum of research is crucial) as well as any other bio info you can find. Asking questions that have been answered and published pretty much guarantees that you won't get a reply. Emails such as, "Hi. How are you?" also tend to be ignored. Asking questions is fine; asking questions that are vague, redundant or flat-out rude is irritating. Keep in mind also, that the 'witty' sexual innuendo that you are about to type in an attempt to impress said porn performer... is prolly something she has heard a thousand times. I know, it happens to me constantly. We hear a lot of sexual banter, crude comments and blunt offers. You are *NOT* as original as you think you are! Want a better chance in opening a dialogue? Do *NOT* immediately try to 'talk shop' to us (notice I said TO us and not WITH us). You may have seen us do the most intimate crap, but you are still a stranger to that individual. Talk about anything other than sex, scenes, porn movies and other performers and you will have a better chance of your email standing out. Professing your undying love can lead to an empty in-box for you, too. You may love Jill Kelly's work, but you do not know her and therefore cannot love her. Make sense? Sending out that "stalker vibe" will get you no where fast!

Be patient while awaiting a reply. There have been times when I receive a nasty email berating me for not replying to a previous one that I had actually JUST replied to moments earlier. Really makes the sending look bad, you know? Sometimes, in an effort to streamline the sorting process a porn performer will have multiple email addresses/email forms for fans. One for non-members of their website/fan club and another for members. You might want to consider joining her website and checking out that possibility.
