Do your research...know what genre/niche you are planning on shooting and make sure you completely understand the key elements associated with that type of content. Loss-forward is more difficult to recoup these days than it has been in the past...minimize the wait by having your network for distribution/marketing/etc in place as early as possible. Do not be so quick to decide against the internet...it is the fastest vehicle for getting your product out there, seen and purchased!
